Yellowstone Families,
The 4th of July has come and gone, and we are sure to see back to school uniform displays in our stores and commercials about school supplies on our television screens. While I know you and yours are holding on tight to these last few days of vacation, we are working hard to be prepared for our scholars on the first day of school.
Our academic leadership team and several teacher leaders have been engaging with me and colleagues from across the nation in professional development opportunities that will make us better educators for your child. We have increased our understanding of child brain development and will continue to do so as we study Conscious Discipline as a tool to build strong school family communities. Our curriculum and instruction skills have been sharpened as we engaged in the PBL World Conference hosted by The Buck Institute. Most recently, our team spent 3 days in Austin with Texas Education Agency (TEA) leaders who guided us through the updates of curriculum standards, state graduation requirements, assessment and accountability criterion, and much more. Two weeks before school starts, your child’s teachers, instructional assistants, and other support staff will return to campus and continue planning for a successful 2018-2019 school year.
Next on our agenda is completing student enrollment and finalizing student schedules. We need your help. We are switching to a more advanced student information system and must collect documents from returning and new Yellowstone families. To ensure proper record keeping on our part, all enrollment documents must be up to date and forms completed to ensure your child has a schedule on the first day of school. Thank you for making this a priority for your family.
Front office and family support staff have been contacting families via email and by phone to assist with this completing the enrollment or re-enrollment process. If we do not have up to date contact information for your family, please contact us at 713-741-8000. We can let you know quickly if everything is complete for your child. Our team is available to assist you with completing the enrollment process over the phone or in person.
